Welcome to Gouldians Galore!

Gouldians Galore is a Hobby Breeder/Exhibitor of Lady Gouldian Finches located in Englewood, NJ, just outside of the booming Manhattan Metropolis. I am a proud retailer of Morning Bird Bird Care Products and Twin Beaks Aviary Herb Salad and Hatched! Organic Ground Egg Shell. Information on these products can be found by using the individual links to the left.

IMPORTANT NEWS!
The first ever U.S. "Gouldian Specific" seminar took place in Kensington, CT on June 13, 2009. At the request of some of the attendees, I have made my Genetics presentation available for download. You can click on the picture below to download the presentation. Be aware, however, that the file is somewhat large, so please be patient.

You can also click HERE to view, download and/or print the hand-out that I gave to take home.

Background Information:

I got my first pair of Lady Gouldians about 5 years ago and was quickly hooked. I currently own anywhere between 35-40 Lady Gouldians and 5 Society Finches. My primary focus is producing genetically strong, breeding and show quality birds.

I started this website in an effort to pass on information I have learned regarding Gouldian Genetics and Breeding. Along the way, I have found many valuable websites, forums, and suppliers that have been crucial to my success. Hopefully you will find this information useful to your program, as well! The most important thing is to find what works for your birds; so if you do not find it here, I hope the websites available on the Links page may help you instead.

I am a proud sponsor of the Save The Gouldian Fund. There are less than 2500 Gouldians remaining in the wild. By donating directly to the fund, you will be making a significant contribution to their efforts. You can click on the logo below to view their site and read more about this worthwhile cause. Please give generously!

An Important Note About New Jersey Regulations:
NJ law states that all exotic non-game birds (with some exceptions) kept as pets or sold within the state must be captive bred and either closed or split banded. NJ law requires individuals selling birds not on the exempt list to possess a "Pet Shop" permit and provide NJ residents purchasing birds with a 20 day temporary permit and application for Hobby Permit to possess said birds. Gouldians are not on the exempt list, and therefore you are required by law to have a permit in order to possess, breed and/or sell them within the state. As required by law, I do possess an NJ Pet Shop permit and am thus able to keep, breed, and sell these birds in NJ. Please note that anyone selling Gouldians in NJ without said permit is doing so illegally per NJ Fish & Wildlife Regulations.

A little more about me:

Right now, I would consider myself a curious hobbyist that is genuinely interested in breeding to produce birds that are genetically strong and aesthetically pleasing. I also like to dabble in the show world from time to time. What better way to test the conformation and blood lines of your flock than to place them before a sanctioned judge?

I am a member of the NFSS and the New York Finch & Type Canary Club but involve myself in shows affiliated with Empire Finch & Canary Club, Kings County Canary Club, and Baltimore Bird Fanciers, to name a few. I am a retail distributor for Morning Bird and Twin Beaks Aviary, as I have found these products to be indispensable in my husbandry.
I absolutely love these birds. I have a keen interest in biology and genetics, and I am hoping in time that through trade and sale I will be able to expand/open my aviary to bird show hobbyists/breeders or small private owner interests.

Thanks for visiting!
