IMPORTANT NEWS!
The first ever U.S. "Gouldian Specific" seminar took place in Kensington, CT on June 13, 2009. At the request of some of the attendees, I have made my Genetics presentation available for download. You can click on the picture below to download the presentation. Be aware, however, that the file is somewhat large, so please be patient.

You can also click HERE to view, download and/or print the hand-out that I gave to take home.

A research paper was published by Dr. Sarah Pryke (researcher at Save the Gouldian Fund) with some interesting conclusions regarding female mate selection with respect to head color. The research, in a nutshell, shows that RH females will bias the ratio of the sex of their offspring towards males if paired with a BH or OH partner. They are also shown to have smaller clutches, less fertility, and high offspring mortality (particularly in the hens) when paired to mis-matched mates! This has significant implications when it comes to captive breeding programs and selective pairings between mis-matched head colors. Click here for the full research paper.

About Me:

I currently own a fluctuating number of Gouldians which typically ranges in the 40-60 number. I am predominantly focused on producing genetically strong, breeding and show quality birds that are parent raised.

I started this website in an effort to pass on information I have learned regarding Gouldian Genetics and Breeding. Along the way, I have found many valuable websites, forums, and suppliers that have been crucial to my success. Hopefully you will find this information useful to your program, as well! The most important thing is to find what works for your birds; so if you do not find it here, I hope the websites available on the Links page may help you instead.

I am a proud sponsor of the Save The Gouldian Fund. There are less than 2500 Gouldians remaining in the wild. By donating directly to the fund, you will be making a significant contribution to their efforts. You can click on the logo below to view their site and read more about this worthwhile cause. Please give generously!

Thanks for visiting!
